Day 2: Wed 29 Jul – London (UK) to Amsterdam (Netherlands)

The BA Club is very nice with a good selection of food and drinks. I will have a shower before I leave. In the meantime, have to relax and enjoy.

Had to relax and enjoy some more as there was a four hour delay due to a plane breakdown on the taxiway. Ended up changing planes and getting into Amsterdam very late. Graham was there waiting for me. The hotel was OK but not good for bike access nor storage so we cut short our stay by one night.

Ride: 50km It was 8:16am before I started to feel a little better. Needless to say, I had a very ordinary day on the bike. I was on the point of collapse most of the day.  When we got to our hotel, the bed was very welcoming! Graham brought up some soup and a milkshake which I consumed then read for about half an hour. Day 8: Tue 4 Aug – Passau to Aschach an der Donau (Austria)

Ride: 64km Rained off and on but only light rain. We were cycling along the river and through forests for most of the day. Had to catch a little ferry across the river at once stage.  Twin room for €56 and a nice dinner for €30 including a small carafe of wine each. Day 13: Sun 9 Aug – Vienna

Not sure what we did today, but I made the decision to go home regardless of cost. Contacted Besi who contacted QANTAS and changed my departure date.
